Old Glory Days began with a simple yet powerful idea: seniors deserve a place where they feel at home, connected, and truly cared for. In 2011, founder Emily Slattery, a licensed social worker, saw a gap in care options for older adults—those who needed support and companionship but didn’t require full-time nursing care. With a passion for helping seniors age with dignity, she opened a small adult day program out of her Southbury home, creating a space where seniors could engage, socialize, and be cared for like family.
As word spread and more families sought the unique warmth of Old Glory Days, the program quickly outgrew its humble beginnings. In 2015, Emily relocated the center to a dedicated space in Sandy Hook, CT, thoughtfully designed to feel like home—complete with a cozy kitchen, living areas, and spaces for activities.
At its core, Old Glory Days isn’t just a day center—it’s a community. Seniors gather for music, crafts, gentle exercise, games, and shared meals, all in a safe and stimulating environment. With a small group setting and a high staff-to-participant ratio, every individual receives personalized attention and the encouragement to stay active and engaged.
As time went on, Emily saw another unmet need: some seniors needed more than daytime care—they needed a safe, comfortable place to live full-time. In 2022, Old Glory Days expanded to open an Assisted Living Home and Adult Day Center in Watertown, CT, designed to provide round-the-clock care in the same warm, home-like environment that families had come to love.
Housed in a charming colonial-style home, the Watertown location is a place where up to six residents live together in a close-knit, family-like setting. It also includes an on-site adult day care program, ensuring that even more seniors in the community can join during the day for activities, socialization, and support.
At Old Glory Days, we believe that senior care should never feel clinical or impersonal. Whether at our Sandy Hook or Watertown Adult Day Care Programs or Watertown Assisted Living, our goal remains the same: to provide compassionate, engaging care in a setting that feels like home.
For families in Newtown, Southbury, Bethel, Brookfield, Monroe, Middlebury, Waterbury, and beyond, we offer a trusted space where seniors can thrive, make meaningful connections, and enjoy each day with dignity.
